Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I choose a Home Inspector?
A: Call and ask about their professional credentials and experience. You must know that the inspector is qualified, experienced, and will be attentive to your needs. Good inspectors are patient and communicate well with their clients. You can learn a lot from a five to ten minute telephone conversation, and we recommend making this call.
Q: What qualifications or credentials should a home inspector have?
A: Qualified home inspectors should be members of an established and recognized association such as the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Since most home inspectors are self-employed it is a good idea to hire someone who is a member in good standing with their association. Experience is important and it is a good idea to ask for references. Since June 2006 the State of Tennessee requires home inspectors to be licensed by the State, so make sure your inspector has a state license.
Q: What will the inspection cover?
A: A thorough inspection covers everything from the top of the roof to the foundation.
